The Kick Heard Around the World!

One of the most infamous moments in English football took place during a match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace game way back in January of 1995.

The game itself wasn't particularly noteworthy, at least not until the 56th minute when Eric Cantona -a man not well known for his even temperament- finally had enough of Richard Shaw's aggressive marking and caught the Crystal Palace centre back a sly kick on the shins. The ref gave Cantona his marching orders, unwittingly setting in motion a chain of events that would go down in football history.

As he made his way to the showers, a fan rushed Cantona, hurling abuse and generally being a bit of a prig. Never one to take this sort of thing laying down, the embittered Frenchman responded to this slight by planting his foot squarely in the offending fan's chest!

PunkFootball have commemorated this moment that rocked English football with our 'I Kicked the Hooligan' T-shirt.
